No Woodworking Experience Required

This beginning woodworking class offers an in-depth introduction to the fundamentals of building furniture. Through the creation of a Side Table, students will be guided through every aspect of project building, from initial design to final finish. We will cover the safe and thoughtful use of all the power tools in the HatchSpace machine room, with particular attention paid to the milling process (jointer, planer, table saw,) as well as a wide range of hand tools and techniques. Numerous design possibilities will be presented, and students will be encouraged to think creatively. Instruction will rely primarily on demonstrations, class discussions, in-class work time, and will even include a field trip to a local lumber yard.

Cost of materials not included.

8 sessions:  Tuesdays,  September 21 - November 9.

Class time:  6-9 PM.

$400

Financial aid may be available. Contact amanda@hatchspace.org for details.
