While building their own Shaker bench, students will focus on making the hand cut dovetail joint, one of the most admired joints in the field of furniture making. We will be making through dovetails as shown above. Half blind dovetails, used in the front part of a drawer will be discussed. Students will learn to make a wedged mortice and tenon joint that will make up the cross support of the bench. Designed for beginning woodworkers or those who have not made these joints. All tools and materials will be supplied.
Financial aid available upon request.
